Our Mission and your call to action

We are a Christian farm project that is on a mission to grow food based on principles of prayer, participation, and preparedness. Our goal is to provide healthy and sustainable food options to the community and start a movement within the church to get prepared.

As Recently as early 20th century the farmer was at the core of the community. Town centres were full of the hustle and bustle of food markets and animal trading.  In the 21st century we find ourselves almost completely disconnected from our food, farmers and animals. Removed from the natural earth God created.

Food

The bible is full of food.

How then has the church become so estranged from natural ways and co-opted into the current big systems of the world?

We have been more focussed on what happens after life  and not the life God has given us now. The Kingdom of God is here and now and we can take hold of it.

Picking up a spade or trowel may not be everyone cup of tea, but most people drink tea. How does that tea get to you? Sadly we are not very good at tea growing here in the UK and we rely on international trade. Similarly with rice we are beholden to global systems. These trades have taken place over hundreds of years. These will continue.

In the UK we now only produce 25% of our fresh food and this is set to reduce drastically in the coming years. This is scary as with global insecurity and trade routes we are vulnerable to interruptions in the food chain.

How do we prepare for these inevitable times?

The church is fully involved in our communities and many food programmes are operated by us. But we do not grow any food and are not connected to that side of the food system. We have become reliant on unethical supermarkets and distant supply for our community needs.

It seems over recent years God has been speaking to a number of people across the globe about coming food shortage and our need to grow.

In Titchfield a small church has heard this call and taken to setting up ‘Prayer Farm’. They are in planning with a Monastery on site. They have £20k of food in storage for incoming need.

In South Africa God spoke to a man to created Eden Hydraclimaponics, so grow food using vertical growing systems.

In Bournemouth God spoke to me, Michael  Co-founder of Grounded Community and Ecclesia Farms and said ‘there will be food shortage in the future, you must learn skills long forgotten. Get the church involved as they will be well placed to help….’

Ecclesia farms is a response to this call. A vision of hope and stepping out in faith into the fields and planting a seed that we hope one day will feed our family, friends and community.

We are doing this for you church. We would love it if you would help.

This shout out goes to all ages and backgrounds. People with gardens and land, people with financial resources and none.  The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.

A new movement of younger generation food growers is needed. The older generation needs to support this movement.

There are now market garden movements across the world and we need to increase this. There is oppostition from the corporate world and recent studies have suggested that garden and small scale farming is worse for the environment than big agriculture systems.

Prepare

At Ecclesia Farms, we believe that God has called us to be good stewards of the land and to use it to provide for ourselves and others. We are dedicated to using sustainable and organic farming practices to grow our crops, and we are committed to serving our community through education and inspiring the wider church to join us in this mission and get prepared for their congregations and communities the times ahead and to to ensure that we can continue to provide for our community in any circumstance.

Prayer

At Ecclesia Farms, we believe that prayer and participation are essential to our mission. We involve our community in the farming process and believe that by working together and praying for God's guidance, we can achieve great things.

Preparedness

We understand the importance of being prepared for any situation. That's why we have developed a preparedness plan that includes emergency procedures and backup systems to ensure that we can continue to provide for our community in any circumstance.
