A small, high-welfare sheep dairy at Ecclesia Farms, on the edge of the New Forest.

Ewe & Moo Dairy is our growing sheep dairy here at Ecclesia Farms in Hampshire, nestled on the edge of the New Forest. We’re building a small-scale, high-welfare dairy rooted in good farming, transparency, and a genuine connection between people, animals and food.

Our flock & this season on the farm
We currently care for a flock of 32 Friesland ewes, a dairy breed known for producing rich, creamy sheep milk. After completing scanning in the new year, we’re delighted to be expecting 42 lambs in March — an exciting milestone as we continue to develop the dairy carefully and responsibly.
What we’re working towards
As the dairy grows, we’re exploring a number of future opportunities, always with animal welfare, food quality and sustainability at the heart of our decisions.

Direct retail of sheep milk, offering local, traceable dairy from a properly managed flock

Artisan cheese-making, producing small-batch cheese on a scale that suits the farm

Educational and social events in the barn, including farm tours, workshops and community gatherings

Why sheep's milk?
Sheep’s milk is naturally rich, nourishing and efficient — and has been valued for centuries in traditional dairy farming and cheese-making. Its unique composition makes it particularly well suited to small-scale, high-welfare dairies like ours.
Compared with cow’s milk, sheep’s milk contains higher levels of key nutrients and solids, meaning you get more in a smaller volume — both nutritionally and practically.
Typical composition comparison

What this means in practice
-
More protein and minerals per serving
-
Naturally creamy texture and flavour, without processing
-
Excellent yields for cheese-making, thanks to higher total solids
-
Well suited to traditional, artisan dairy production
Many people interested in alternative milks are drawn to sheep’s milk not as a substitute trend, but as a time-tested dairy, produced efficiently by animals that thrive in well-managed, pasture-based systems. For those looking for sheep’s milk in Hampshire, alternative dairy near the New Forest, or local food with clear provenance, sheep’s milk offers a compelling balance of nutrition, flavour and sustainability, when produced carefully and responsibly.
