Embarking on a New Journey with Ewe and Moo Dairy: A Community Effort for 2026

Updated: Jan 21

The year 2025 brought an exciting new chapter for Ewe and Moo Dairy. Partnering with our good friend Louisa to take on 30 milking ewes and a milking parlour in Gorley has been a brand new adventure. This venture brought us back to the New Forest village where the vision for Ecclesia Farms was first birthed. What makes this journey truly special is the strong sense of community and faith that has guided every step. Within weeks, 20 Christian friends became co-operative shareholders, contributing not only funds but also time, passion, and practical help. Together, we have fallen in love with the sheep and the work involved in nurturing them!

Returning to Our Roots in the New Forest

The decision to take on the milking ewes and parlour was more than a business move; it felt like a calling. The New Forest village holds a special place in our hearts as the birthplace of Ecclesia Farms’ vision. This connection has deepened our commitment to sustainable farming and community involvement. The pastoral setting offers the perfect environment for raising healthy sheep and producing quality dairy products.

Our focus has been on learning and adapting to the unique challenges of sheep dairy farming. This includes mastering electric fencing and rotational grazing techniques to ensure the ewes have fresh pasture while protecting the land. Moving the ewes between grazing areas has become a joyful team effort, strengthening bonds among everyone involved.

Building a Cooperative Community

One of the most inspiring aspects of this journey has been the formation of a cooperative of Christian friends who share the vision. Their investment goes beyond financial support. Many have offered hands-on help with daily tasks, from fence building to feeding and caring for the sheep. This collective effort has created a strong support network that fuels the dairy’s growth.

The cooperative model has also encouraged transparency and shared responsibility. Regular meetings and updates keep everyone informed and engaged. This sense of ownership motivates each member to contribute their best, whether through labor, expertise, or prayer.

Following the Sheep’s Story on Instagram

To keep the community connected and share the progress, Ewe and Moo Dairy launched its own Instagram account. Followers can see regular updates on sheep activities, including grazing rotations, fence setups, and team efforts to move the flock. The account also shares behind-the-scenes moments that highlight the daily realities and joys of sheep dairy farming.

One of the most anticipated events is lambing season. Recently, Alex, the scanner man, confirmed that the ewes are carrying 42 lambs, mostly twins and one set of triplets. This news has brought excitement and a bit of nervous anticipation to the team. The first lambs are expected around March 2nd, and preparations are underway to bring the ewes into the barn in February.

Preparing for Lambing and Team Involvement

Lambing season requires careful planning and teamwork. Bringing the ewes into the barn ensures they have a safe, warm environment for birthing and early care. We have scheduled several team days to prepare the barn and assist with moving the sheep. These days offer opportunities for volunteers to get involved, learn about sheep care, and experience the rewarding work firsthand.

If you are interested in joining these team days or want to learn more about the dairy, please reach out at eweandmoodairy@gmail.com. Your support, whether through volunteering or prayer, makes a significant difference in the success of this mission.

The Joy of Working with Sheep

Working with the ewes has been a source of joy and inspiration. Their gentle nature and the rhythms of farm life create a peaceful environment. Each day brings new lessons in patience, care, and respect for the animals and the land. The cooperative spirit among the team members enhances this experience, turning hard work into shared celebration.

The sheep have become more than livestock; they are part of a community that values faith, friendship, and stewardship. This connection motivates us to maintain high standards of animal welfare and sustainable farming practices.

Looking Ahead with Hope and Gratitude

As 2025 progresses, we remain grateful for the support and encouragement from everyone involved. The journey with Ewe and Moo Dairy is a testament to what can be achieved when people come together with a shared vision and commitment. We look forward to welcoming the lambs, expanding our knowledge, and continuing to build a thriving cooperative.

Your prayers and involvement are vital as we move forward. Together, we can nurture this dream and contribute to a farming model that honors both the land and the local community.
